Terry retired after thirty years of active duty as a Dental Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service. He lives in Rockville, MD. At the National Institutes of Health, He was a Senior Investigator and a Scientific Review Officer. At the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research, he was the Director of the Office of Scientific Review and the Agency Research Integrity Liaison Officer. In retirement, he served as the Secretary General of the International College of Dentists and is currently a Member-at-Large on the Board of the American Society for Dental Ethics (ASDE). Other ethics-related organizations in which he is an active member include: the American Society for Bioethics + Humanities (ASBH), the Academy for Professionalism in Health Care (APHC), the Healthcare Ethics Consortium (HEC), the Ethics Section of the American Public Health Association (APHA) and the International Dental Ethics and Law Society (IDEALS). He recently committed to continue serving as a discussion mentor for the Dental Ethics portion of the Professionalism course at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, an activity he first joined in 2015.
